case study [02]
How I designed an MVP to refine B2B note-taking and set the stage for seamless Salesforce integration.
Lost notes, missed insights, and endless data entry
In fast-paced B2B environments, teams depend on meeting notes, customer feedback, and deal details to make informed decisions. But when documentation is scattered and manually entered into Salesforce, valuable insights slip through the cracks, slowing teams down. It’s time to bridge the gap between note-taking and seamless integration.
I designed an MVP for a desktop notes app that enables seamless reporting, analysis, and Salesforce integration—turning unstructured notes into actionable insights.

Problem
Sales and customer success teams lacked an efficient way to capture, analyze, and integrate qualitative insights into their workflows. Key challenges included:
Scattered Notes: Insights were siloed in emails, docs, or personal notebooks.
Manual Data Entry: Entering notes into Salesforce was time-consuming.
No Standardized Reporting: Teams struggled to track patterns in qualitative data.
Anecdotal Impact:
On average, sales reps spent ~5-7 hours per week manually transferring notes into Salesforce.
~30% of key insights were lost due to disorganized note-taking.
Managers lacked a structured way to track team-wide customer feedback.
Solution
To bridge these gaps, I designed a B2B desktop notes app MVP that allows users to:
Capture and tag notes with structured metadata for easy retrieval.
Auto-analyze qualitative data to identify trends and key insights.
Sync with Salesforce to ensure insights are automatically associated with relevant accounts.
Competitive Analysis & Client Insights
To better understand user needs, I conducted stakeholder interviews with the client and performed a competitive analysis of leading note-taking tools.
I analyzed Apple Notes, Scratchpad, and Evernote, as these were the client’s primary tools for reporting. Each was evaluated for interface usability, workflow efficiency, and integration capabilities.
Platforms
Strengths
Weaknesses
Apple Notes
Simple UI
Scratchpad
Evernote
Key findings included:
✔ Apple Notes lacked structure for organizing business-related notes.
✔ Scratchpad integrated with Salesforce but had a limited note-management experience.
✔ Evernote offered robust organization but was disconnected from Salesforce workflows.
These insights shaped our design approach, ensuring the new solution combined intuitive note-taking, structured reporting, and seamless Salesforce integration.
Defining the MVP Scope
To align with business priorities and technical feasibility, I outlined high, medium, and low-priority features:
🔥 High Priority
Salesforce Integration – Push notes directly to Salesforce for seamless reporting.
Google Calendar Integration – Sync meetings for contextual note-taking.
User Roles & Views – Separate interfaces for Managers and Reps to tailor their experience.
Zoom Integration – Link meeting notes to specific calls for better reference.
Global Search – Quickly retrieve notes across all accounts.
Organized Folder System – Left-pane navigation for structured note management.
⏳ Medium Priority
Salesforce Integration Indicator – Clear visual confirmation of synced notes.
Next Steps & Product Feedback Sections – Structured fields for actionable follow-ups.
🌱 Low Priority
Opportunity Management – Track deals directly within the app.
Account-Based News Feed – Display relevant industry updates for each client.
Sketching & Low-Fidelity Wireframes
Before diving into wireframes, I sketched multiple layouts to explore structure and functionality.
Key Focus Areas:
Manager View – A dashboard for overseeing team insights.
Password & Security – Ensuring seamless access and account safety.
My Approach
For the Manager View, I aimed to showcase Salesforce integration clearly while keeping the UI simple and organized. I focused on:
Visual indicators for synced notes to Salesforce.
Displaying key insights without cluttering the interface, ensuring easy navigation and quick data access.
For security, I designed the Password & Security page with:
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for extra protection.
A user-friendly layout to make account management straightforward and secure.
By balancing functionality and clarity, I created pages that were both efficient and secure for users.
My Approach
Simplified Left-Hand Navigation: I added dedicated sections for Manager Notes and Notifications in the left-hand navigation. This made it easier for users to quickly access and manage notes, without cluttering the interface with unnecessary options.
Enhanced Branding: I incorporated the client’s preferred colors and refined the iconography for a cohesive look.
Clear Salesforce Integration: I added visual indicators with the Salesforce logo to show synced notes.
These iterations helped refine the design, making it more organized and user-friendly, while also addressing the client’s feedback for a clean, streamlined experience.
